Swanson Rink, Inc.: Sustainable Design Coordinator or Engineer

We have an opening for a Sustainable Design Coordinator or Engineer. The selected candidate develops Green ideas for implementation of energy conservation and sustainable initiatives for design projects; takes on the role of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) coordinator for construction projects; promotes and implements programs toward improving environmental and conservation measures; develops transportation options for employees; develops a marketing program for Swanson Rinks Green initiatives by performing the following duties.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinates with clients, design, and construction teams for LEED certification and considers options beyond the LEED guidelines.
  • Stays involved in the local chapter of U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and participates in National conferences.
  • Reviews projects for potential sustainable design ideas or LEED points.
  • Trains other staff members to work towards attaining LEED AP certification.
  • Maintains the latest information relating to LEED CIRs.
  • Establishes Green policies for the office and employees.
  • Organizes teams for sustainable design projects.
  • Researches green building products and systems.
  • Develops economic opportunities for our clients relating to Green Initiatives.
  • Prepares Life Cycle studies of renewable materials.
  • Develops recycling programs for construction materials and disposable materials.
  • Interfaces with DRCOG Denver Regional Council of Governments and the Regional Travel Demand Management Strategic Plan.
  • Coordinates technical and administrative activities with those of other disciplines and departments in the company, Clients, and the Client's design team participating in a project.
  • Exhibits general knowledge of design/engineering contracts including provisions of standard forms of agreement between Owner/Architect, Owner/Engineer, Architect/Engineer, etc.

Job Qualifications

  • U.S. Green Building Council LEED Accredited Professional
  • Bachelor of Science Engineering degree or Construction Manager degree
  • Minimum 2-5 years experience in engineering design or construction management for commercial and institutional facilities
  • Experience and proficiency in implementing energy conservation initiatives on commercial construction projects
  • Possesses the passion for energy conservation, sustainable designs, and people friendly environmental spaces
  • Proficient in working with LEED documentation forms and credit calculations
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Word and Excel and other software associated with LEED certifications with ability to create documents such as final versions of project narratives, reports, and maintain accurate budget spreadsheets
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States
