What is Graduate to Green?
Graduate to Green is an annual educational summit produced by volunteers from USGBC Colorado's Green Schools Initiative.

October 4th-Preconference Workshop Registration:

Green Your District, Your Schools, and Your Teaching

About: Over the past decade, Poudre School District has worked to develop district wide programs and policies guided by a Sustainable Management System (SMS), Sustainable Design Guidelines (SDG), and extensive energy management, with the interest spreading to teachers, students, and community members.  This preconference workshop will capitalize on these experiences and lessons learned to effectively transfer this knowledge to attendees.

Workshop Faculty:
Brian Dunbar, Director, Institute for the Built Environment, Colorado State University
Bill Franzen, SAGE 2 Associates, LLC
Farah McDill, Green School Specialist

  • The first segment will include information about how to develop an SMS, SDG, and partner-enhanced integrated sustainable design. Presenter: Brian Dunbar
  • The second segment will focus on the process, importance, and benefits of green school design and operations. Presenter: Bill Franzen 
  • The final segment will focus on the end-users, the teachers and students, and how they can best understand the built environment of educational facilities, through building-focused sustainability clubs and behavior change.

  • Three tracks to choose from: Design (for architects, engineers, contractors and those involved in construction), Maintenance (for district personnel including facilities, administrators, energy managers) and Curriculum (for teachers, parents, students and eco-advocates)
