IES Virtual Environment Demo 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm See Below
Description: Chien Si Harriman will present the IES Virtual Environment, a unique software system of integrated building performance analysis tools for use by architects and engineers, planners and facilities managers. The IES VE software application has a range of analysis tools that operate with building information models. These tools include thermal simulation, load calculations, daylight assessment (output includes LEED NC2.2 Credit 8.1) and solar studies. Chien Si will also demonstrate how the IES building performance analysis tools can be used in comination with Revit MEP to undertake building performance analysis at the earliest stages of the design process. The speed with which high quality building performance information can be generated makes it much easier for you to design more sustainable buildings with much lower carbon footprints
Presenter: Chien Si holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University, and has a strong interest in how simulations must be devised to improve accuracy and the user experience. Prior to IES, he has worked in NASA’s Manned Spaceflight Program, preparing spaceflight crews using computer simulation, followed by 3 years of building science simulation positions in Portland, OR and New York, NY. His resume of building science projects includes the Eugene Federal Courthouse (AIA Top Ten Green Building), One Bryant Park (LEED Platinum), and the World Trade Center Master Plan (LEED Silver+).
