INFORMATION AND REGISTRATION
Fort Collins and Northern Colorado - A 'Hot Bed' of Green Building Activity
There are nearly two dozen registered and certified LEED
® buildings (several are included in the 'Green Building Tours') in Northern Colorado, and close to one hundred LEED Accredited Professionals. The Cities of Fort Collins and Longmont are adopting resolutions requiring LEED standards in new construction. The City of Loveland manages a world class recycling program, and the Poudre School District is recognized nation-wide for excellence in green schools. Many area businesses lead by example in seting the standard for sustainable practices. Wind turbine manufactures and bio-diesel producers have chosen to locate in Northern Colorado. The Institute for the Built Environment at Colorado State University provides a valuable resource for green building education. Several non-profit organizations assist individuals and businesses in learning about and participating in, high performance green building practices. The most recent development in local green initiatives is the formation of the Chapter's Northern Colorado Branch.
