US EPA Benefits Are Far-Reaching

In 2008, the Chapter hosted five of its LEED workshops in Denver at the US EPA Region 8 headquarters. The LEED Gold building, which is conveniently located across the street from the Chapter’s office, gives workshop attendees the chance to explore features of a gren building more closely. The Chapter is very grateful to its neighbor, namely Kate Gregory, for donating not only the workshop space, but also the time necessary to coordinate the logistics of bringing 50-80 attendees through security.
With the addition of a green building reference section to its second floor public library and the launch of a green building resources web site, the opportunity to learn about green buildings now stretches far beyond the impressive structure that houses EPA Region 8.
In collaboration with the US EPA Region 8 Green Building Education initiative, the Region 8 Librarians have built a web site of Green Building Resources. For more information, visit their website at http://www.epa.gov/region8/library/greenbuildref.html for more details.

The resources on the site are organized by the following categories; Site, Design, Materials, Indoor Environment, Energy, Water, Waste, and Selected Resources. Each category has a brief description followed by an alphabetical listing of pertinent resources. An alphabetical listing of all resources is also included. Featured on the site are "LEED Links". These are links to documents and resources identified in the U.S. Green Building Council's New Construction Reference Guide, version 2.2, 2006.
Another feature is a link to a list of paper copy reference resources in the library. The library does not lend out any of these 30+ titles since they are reference items, but the materials are available for use in the library. The library is open to the public from 8 to 4, Monday through Friday, except for Federal Holidays. The library staff is also available to assist with questions about Green Building resources by phone or e-mail.
Suggestions for additions or comments on resources are welcomed by the library staff.
