Colorado Sustainable Design Awards (CSDA) to Recognize Outstanding Design in Residential and Commercial Properties and Mixed-Use Developments
ColoradoBiz is partnering with AIA Colorado, ULI Colorado, and the US Green Building Council Colorado to host the first statewide sustainable design awards program. Colorado Sustainable Design Awards, or CSDA, is now officially seeking nominations for exemplary sustainable architecture and land use in private and public settings throughout Colorado.
The competition is open to Colorado-based design firms and will evaluate projects in four categories:
- Residential architecture – single family homes
- Commercial architecture – office/mixed-use/multi-family buildings
- Civic architecture
- Sustainable Communities Award -- land development, urban design and/or master planned communities
Photography and descriptions of finalists and winners in each category will be featured in the November issue of ColoradoBiz, within the Planet Profit Report section of the magazine focusing on sustainable business and the new energy economy. Winners will also be recognized as the 2009 the Rocky Mountain Commercial Real Estate Expo and Fall Forecast, Nov. 10, 2009, at the Colorado Convention Center.
Bar Taylor, publisher of ColoradoBiz, cited the work of Colorado-based architecture firms and public and private planners as a key reason for the launch of the awards program. “CSDA provides a unique and timely platform to recognize the role of Colorado architects, planners, and builders in positioning our state as a leader in sustainable design and development. Highlighting the great work being done in Colorado is the right thing to do.”
ULI Colorado Executive Director Michael Leccese also welcomed the timing of the Awards. “The ‘triple bottom line’ of economic, social and environmental sustainability is a ULI ‘best practice’ we look forward to recognizing and encouraging in Colorado. I’m sure our many members pursuing sustainable design, planning, and development will be eager to compete.”

There is no fee to enter. Entry forms are due Aug. 1, 2009. All nominations packets are due August 15.
