General Description of Duties

The Energy & Green Building Programs Manager will oversee the High Country Conservation Center’s energy and green building programs including: Basic and Advanced Energy Audits; Infrared Camera Work; grant-funded programs, including Colorado Governor’s Energy Office programs, Energy Star and Insulate & Seal Colorado (2008-09); Home Energy Loan Program (HELP); community energy-related outreach and education programs; and periodic updating of the Summit Sustainable Building Resource Guide. The position requires a technical background in energy management and/or green building, the ability to manage multiple programs and employees, and provide effective public outreach. 

The High Country Conservation Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Summit County, Colorado with a mission to promote practical solutions for waste reduction and resource conservation in our mountain community.  Founded in 1976 as a grassroots recycling and resource conservation organization, the High Country Conservation Center now works to provide services for our community in the areas of energy efficiency and renewable energy, green building, waste reduction, and sustainable living.  Benefits include $100/mo health insurance stipend, IRA matching contributions, paid vacation and holiday time, and travel reimbursement. Position is full-time with salary $38,000-$40,000 DOE.

Senior Energy Engineer / Project Manager

Someone that can take a project start to finish, has customer interface savvy, is a great writer, is experienced to complete energy calculations for buildings and has a strong working knowledge of building energy systems and calculations.

Experience Required

  • Conceptual and schematic design consulting for facility MEP systems. Working with A/E teams to offer sound MEP system alternatives to implement energy efficiency in new construction and retrofit projects.
  • Energy modeling and analysis to determine energy consumption and operating expenses using DOE-2 based programs and energy analysis report preparation.
  • Peer review of construction documents generated by design engineers, including modern approaches to HVAC, piping systems and renewable energy systems.
  • Management and review of work prepared by engineering staff.
  • Manage engineering projects and provide technical consulting to clients.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience.
  • Direct MEP Design, Commissioning and M&V experience a plus.

This position will be responsible for the implementation of sustainability programs for commercial customers including but not limited to life cycle analyses, material waste/water conservation, pollution prevention, and energy efficiency.  The position will collect and analyze environmental data from client sites and design remediation targets and strategies in accordance with client goals.  The Engineer will ensure that material waste, water conservation, carbon emission reduction and/or energy efficiency projects are managed and completed correctly, on time, and on budget.

Project Coordinator, Sustainability at the University of Colorado at Denver

The University of Colorado, Denver has announced its initial recruitment for a six-month appointment of a Project Coordinator for Sustainability Outreach in Colorado, with the potential option to extend as the program develops. The Project Coordinator will use UC Denver's water and energy footprinting tools to help Colorado communities and entities in developing sustainability baselines and evaluate costs and benefits of various sustainability actions for the future. Candidates should have good quantitative skills; knowledge of carbon accounting and energy analysis; the ability to oversee student interns; the ability to conduct outreach with Colorado communities and entities; and skills in GIS, transportation planning and database development. Minimum Qualifications include a bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Architecture and Planning, or a related field with a specific concentration/focus in Building Sciences, Sustainable Energy, and/or Carbon Accounting.
